wanting to become a licensed security patrol guard in
the Province of BC. It covers all of the basic security
guard duties set out in the 40 hour Canadian General Standards
Board guidelines for security guard training in Canada,
as well as applicable B.C. statutes and regulations with
which security guards need to be familiar and comply.
Students who successfully complete both Basic Standards
Training Level 1 and Basic Standards Training Level 2
will be eligible to receive a provincial issued certificate
of training completion.

EVALUATION
Only those who have successfully completed this level of
training may move on to the BST Level 2 training. Students
are required to write a provincially administered, one-hour,
multiple-choice test. This test is normally administered
upon completion of BST 2; both the BST 1 and BST 2 tests
are marked by the Police Academy. Successful completion
is a mark of not less than 60% of the total numbers of marks.
It is important to note that a provincial driver’s
license, a BC Identification card, or a Military identification
is required to write the tests.
The
exam fee is included in the BST2 fees. Normally both exams
are administered at one sitting for one charge. It is important
to note that if a student is writing an exam at a different
time (including re-writes), there will be an additional
charge of $50.00.

This is the second level of mandatory training for anyone
wanting to become a licensed security patrol guard in the
Province of BC. It is a skills-based course designed to
provide security guards with the ability to evaluate, defuse
and control a variety of potentially confrontational or
even violent encounters using verbal skills and, if required,
appropriate and legal physical control tactics. Students
who successfully complete both Basic Standards Training
Level 1 and Basic Standards Training Level 2 will be eligible
to receive a provincial issued certificate of training completion.
